Proactiv...?

ok so i bought the four piece with the oil free m,oisture and refining mask...and of course the three main things. ok so with the refining mask it says like to wash off after 10 minutes when u aply it so u rub it in or bloth it onto the area without rubbing in? and then in the booklet it also says u can aply it and leave it over night to help blemishes dissapear faster. if u can leave it on over night than why does it also say to take off after 10 minutes... and again how do u aply it like rub it in or what.
