Should we go to dinner with my husbands estranged mother?

My husband's mother hasn't seen him (or any of his siblings ) for an easy ten years. She has never met me, or our one year old son. In fac,t she didn't even know we had a son until a cousin mentioned it to her. Now she wants to give my sin a birthdya present and wants us to meet her at a Chili's. My husband is wary and I am hesitant. I don't want anything happening in front of my son, but I also don't want to deprive this woman of her only grandchild. She may have reformed, and may be a perfectly fine grandmother. My husband hasn't said yes or no, but I am really feeling hesitant. Imean I'm curious to see her, but at the same time, the tales I've heard of her are horrifying. Should we just politely decline, or give it a shot?
