If I form an LLC how do I register it so it is viewed as a Corporation for tax purposes?

The company I am considering working for as an independent contractor is making me incorporate. I think the best thing for me to do is form an LLC and then incorporate it for tax purposes. Is this really the best thing to do, and how do I do that?
